Ten people were killed and three wounded when suspected members of the dreaded Akhilesh Singh gang attacked Chakwai village in Bihar's Nawada district late Friday night.

A senior police officer said the assailants were armed with sophisticated weapons. They pulled people out of their houses and shot them dead in cold blood, he added.

The victims belonged a backward caste.

The killing of two children of an upper caste earlier in the day at Kashichak village was suspected to be the provocation for the attack, the police officer said.

Ashok Mahto gang is suspected to be responsible for the Kashichak killings.

Superintendent of Police Baldev Prasad has rushed to the spot with additional forces.

Ashok Mahto and Akhilesh Singh gangs are locked in a bloody feud for the past several years.

Akhilesh is Warsaliganj MLA, Aruna Devi's, husband. Devi recently joined Ramvilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party.
