5-year-old boy married to puppy

February 17, 2004 09:21 IST

A five-year-old boy was on Monday married to a puppy in Kuluptanaga bustee in Saraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand.

The incident took place on the concluding day of a three-day festival, Maghe Parv.

A woman tribal priest, Bonjh Gope conducted the ceremony in which Samir, son of Shanbabu Mudiya, was married off.

Mudiya said later that the marriage would keep the boy, his family as well as the society away from the evil eye.

He claimed that four such marriages had taken place in the area this year.
