Less dry days equals more tourists, hopes Rajasthan

February 08, 2004 15:48 IST

The Rajasthan government has restricted dry days, when sale of liquor is banned, to only three national holidays in the state, official sources said in Jaipur.

According to the new excise policy, dry days would now be observed only on January 26 (Republic Day), August 15 (Independence Day) and October two (Gandhi Jayanti).

Earlier, sale of liquor was not permitted on nines day of the year, including on Shiv Ratri and Janmasthami.

The new policy is aimed at attracting foreign tourists, the sources added.
