Two emergency medical teams set up

The Union health ministry has deputed two emergency medical relief teams for Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh to provide medical assistance to the people affected by tsunamis on Sunday.

Dr Badhrinath, Deputy Director General of CGHS, is rushing to Pondicherry.

The regional directors of CGHS at Chennai and Hyderabad, and Dr Reddy, dean, JIPMER, Pondicherry would coordinate with the teams on emergency medical relief works, an official release said in Delhi.

Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, who is abroad, is rushing back to India.

Meanwhile, an emergency control room has been set up in Delhi. It would be headed by Dr P Ravinderan, director of
Emergency Medical Relief.
