Four states to jointly fight naxalites

December 08, 2004 20:11 IST

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday adopted a 13-point plan to jointly tackle naxalites.

Among other things, the states will exchange intelligence on the movement and activities of naxalite outfits, UP Director General of Police V K V Nair said in Varanasi.

After attending a meeting of police officials of the four states, he said an agreement had been reached on joint combing operations in forests.

The police of one state will be able to interrogate the naxalites caught in another under the plan, Nair said.
