A visibly angry Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, on Friday brought order in the House when agitated Rashtriya Janata Dal members demanded action against Janata Dal-United leader Prabhunath Singh for his "derogatory" remarks on Thursday.

As soon as the House assembled for Question Hour, Ram Kirpal Yadav, Raghunath Jha and M K Rana demanded action against Singh.

Immediately, Chatterjee said, "The derogatory remarks have been expunged and I deprecate such un-parliamentary acts."

However, Yadav and Jha persisted with their demand for an apology from the member and that annoyed the Speaker, who said he had decided to take action against members who behaved in this manner.

He said, "This is not the way the House will run. I have decided to start naming members. I am very sorry. Is this House only for shouting?"

He said he had received some notices of privilege and these were under consideration.

When Yadav persisted, Chatterjee said, "Have you heard what I have said Ram Kirpal Yadav?"
