Togadia won't take Muslim driver
April 14, 2004 01:40 IST
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has no qualms seeking a state government car for its general secretary Praveen Togadia to tour Rajasthan but will not accept a Muslim driver. Circulating a letter written to the Rajasthan government on March 11, the Communist Party of India said the VHP had requested a bullet-proof car and a driver. In his letter, VHP's state working president Narpat Singh Shekhawat told the Motor Garage Department that the VHP would not accept a Muslim driver for Togadia. When contacted by PTI, Shekhawat admitted writing a letter seeking a car for the high-profile VHP leader but tried to wriggle out of the controversy saying the state government did not provide a vehicle.
