Navratri is that time of the year when trends in ethnic fashion and style are set. Numerous designer variations of the ghagra choli and sarees are on display. Traditional intricate mehndi patterns coexist with tattoos. The long pleated hair gives close competition to the short boy cuts.

The music also has changed. The traditional dhol and folk music have been overtaken over by live bands wiith their fare of the latest film music and popular remixes.

Navratri is the perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity.
