The Concorde is 62 metres long and stretches between 15 and 25 centimetres in flight due to heating of the airframe. The aircraft is painted in a specially developed white paint to accommodate these changes and to dissipate the heat generated by supersonic flight.
The Concorde stands about 11.2 metres tall with a wingspan of 26 metres. This is much less than conventional subsonic aircraft because the Concorde flies in an entirely different way, using 'Vortex Lift.'
The droop nose is lowered to improve pilots' visibility for takeoff and landing.
