In his speech, the IAF chief said, "We are already a professional force and now we are in the process of turning into an elite one."
He said the IAF is a "strong and professional combat force, but we need to be careful while choosing what [technology] suits us as it should also be cost effective".
Krishnaswamy also invited the private sector to enter the Indian aviation industry.
