Priyank Turakhia and 19 of his college friends bought season tickets at Rs 1,250 each.

They have a new garba costume for every night, and say the entire event costs them about Rs 15,000 per person.

"Yeah, there are some who hire these clothes," says Payal Parekh, an undergrad, "but eeeks, how can you wear hired clothes? Gawd knows who all must have worn them."

The group had 'captured' a good location on the ground, put their bags and slippers in a neat cluster in the centre and sat in a circle before the show began.

The best thing about Falguni Pathak's dandiyas, they say, is that there is no 'cheapness and vulgarity.'

"You can come here all by yourself," says Bhakti Shah, "It's safe. People are only interested in dancing. It's not as if hangers on come here for bird watching."
