The police have asked danseuse Mallika Sarabhai to furnish 'within five days' documents pertaining to her academy, foreign tours of the dance troupes and some other points mentioned in a complaint of cheating filed against her, official sources said in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
As per a court directive, Sarabhai presented herself at the Naranpura police station, where the offence has been registered against her under sections 420 (cheating) and 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
Sarabhai, Director, Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, deposited her passport as per the court's orders.
Investigating official M K Katariya sought the information through some 'written queries' that related to 'some points' mentioned by complainant Manushi Shah.
"We asked her to furnish the information on the questions within five days," Katariya said.
The danseuse's advocate R K Shah said the information sought was the same asked for by the charity commissioner and joint commissioner of police.
"The police asked us to produce documents about the foreign tours, number of participants and the number of tours organized by the academy,'' Shah said.
The district and sessions court on October 29 had granted her anticipatory bail and directed Sarabhai to remain present at the police station November 1 between 10 am and noon.
