Six killed, 55 hurt in Assam blast

Six people, including a Central Reserve Police Force jawan, were killed and at least 55 injured when United Liberation Front of Asom terrorists triggered a blast in Assam's Goalpara district, Director General of Police Harekrishna Deka said on Sunday.

The terrorists triggered an improvised explosive device on National Highway 36 when a truck carrying CRPF personnel and a passenger bus were crossing the area, Goalpara police said.

The CRPF vehicle was the target of the attack, the police said.

The injured were rushed to the Goalpara Civil Hospital, and those in critical condition were sent to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

Security forces cordoned off the area a launched a hunt to nab the terrorists, the police added.
