Sena, BJP call for Mumbai bandh

rediff Newsdesk | July 29, 2003 10:26 IST

The Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party have called for a Mumbai bandh on Wednesday to protest against the Maharashtra government's lax approach to security.

Soon after the blasts in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, on Monday night, Sena chief Bal Thackeray and BJP leader Gopinath Munde met and decided to call for bandh.

Sources said a formal announcement is expected on Tuesday.

Four persons were killed and 31 injured in the twin blasts, which ripped apart a bus in the suburb.
