The trappings of power have never sat comfortably on Kalam's shoulders. His tenure has seen him depart from many conventions. From allowing a less formal attire for official functions to setting aside protocol by walking up to awardees to present their citations, the President has brought in a whiff of freshness into Rashtrapati Bhavan.
