In what could be an indication that they might target army-run schools in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Tayiba on Saturday ordered teachers in such schools to leave their jobs or face its wrath.

This threat comes less than a week after some militants ordered Muslim women to quit government jobs or face death.

"Teachers in army schools should leave their jobs and try to earn their livelihood elsewhere. Otherwise, they will be targeted. Parents should also withdraw their children from these schools," a LeT statement carried by a Srinagar daily said.

"Teachers and parents will be jointly responsible for losses suffered by the institutions in the event of a militant attack," the statement said.

"It is a fact that these institutions were set up to preach Hindutva and eliminate jihad (Muslim holy war)," it said.
