A woman was killed and a dozen others injured when an improvised explosive device went off near Singhpora Pattan on the vital Srinagar-Baramulla national highway on Friday morning.

The IED was aimed at an army vehicle, which passed by seconds before the blast, police said.

One house and a few shops were damaged.

The woman, Shahzada, died on the spot and the injured were brought to Srinagar for treatment.

Traffic on the highway, which was disrupted, was restored after the area was cleared.
