Vajpayee has a versatile personality and is a family man to the core. He lives with his adopted daughter Namita Bhattacharya and her family.
His son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya says that even when he is travelling Vajpayee calls up frequently to find out about his granddaughters.
A man of many tastes, Vajpayee likes songs from films like Devdas, Teesri Kasam and Aandhi. He also loves listening to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
In an interview to rediff.com Kanti Mistra, his niece, revealed another aspect of his personality -- cooking skills. "When he is visiting us, Chachaji relishes raw salads, dahi vadas, besan, til and mungare laddoos," she revealed.
