But in no time the tide was turning against the Rainbow Warrior again. Out of the blue came a directive of the Gujarat Maritime Board requesting the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard to seize the vessel and arrest the crew. The request, however, was turned down.

The Rain Warrior, docked at the Mumbai port. In 1977, at Greenpeace's office in London a plan was hatched to buy a boat with which to protect whales in the North Atlantic. A North Sea trawler known as Sir William Hardy was found in Aberdeen. This ship was repainted and rechristened the Rainbow Warrior.
