2 MiGs crash, pilots safe

A Correspondent in New Delhi

Two MiG-21 fighters of the Indian Air Force crashed over Jodhpur and Ambala on Monday.

Confirming the incidents, Squadron Leader R K Dhingra, IAF spokesman in New Delhi, told rediff.com, "From the news that we have got so far there has been no loss of life in either of the two cases. We are waiting for more details."

While the first crash took place around noon near Jodhpur, the second took place near Ambala a couple of hours later. In both cases the pilots managed to eject safely.

The number of MiG crashes in recent years has raised crucial questions about the safety of the aircraft and the training procedures for pilots.
