UP rebels to hold talks with Advani

In an apparent bid at rapprochement, Bharatiya Janata Party dissidents in Uttar Pradesh are reaching Delhi on Monday to hold talks with senior party leader and Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

The BJP high command, however, continues to talk tough against the rebels who had proposed the candidature of arms dealer Suresh Nanda for a Rajya Sabha bypoll in the state.

Nanda has since withdrawn from the race.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu warned that disciplinary action would be taken in a couple of days against those party MLAs who had proposed Nanda's candidature.

At least eight rebel legislators are likely to reach Delhi on Monday. However, Ganga Bhakt Singh and Ramasish Rai -- the two leaders who spearheaded the rebellion in Uttar Pradesh -- will not be among them.
