An Indian Air Force MiG-21 jet on a routine flight crashed into an office building in Jalandhar killing three persons on the ground and injuring 12 others.
The pilot S K Nayak and the co-pilot bailed out. They have been admitted to a hospital and injuries, if any, are not known.
Eyewitnesses said the rear of the plane caught fire in-flight and the jet crashed into the Bank of Rajasthan building.
The services of the army have been requisitioned to assist the civil administration, Deputy Commissioner K Shiva Prasad said.
