The Indian Army has foiled three infiltration bids by militants across the Line of Control since Monday, killing eight of them in the process.
Two of the three infiltration attempts were made through the Machil sector in the Neelam valley and the third through Tangdhar region, both in the frontier district of Kupwara, an army spokesman said.
"A large quantity of arms, ammunition, bombs, rockets and explosives were recovered from the slain militants," the spokesman added.
Army officials said that Pakistan has stepped up efforts to push in large bands of mercenaries to disrupt the election process in Jammu and Kashmir.
