Former Tamil Nadu governor Fathima Beevi on Friday dismissed suggestions that she had committed a mistake in appointing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa as Tamil Nadu chief minister, saying she thought it was 'right'.
"You cannot say like that. The Supreme Court has laid down the law now and we are bound by it," Beevi, herself a former judge of the Supreme Court, told a private news channel when asked whether she had committed a mistake by appointing Jayalalithaa.
Beevi said she took that decision 'considering the circumstances of the case and the situation in the state. I thought that was the right thing'.
