5 killed, 35 shops gutted in J&K gun battle

Two members of the special operations group were among five persons killed in a fierce gun battle in the south Kashmir town of Tral in Pulwama district late on Saturday evening.

Police sources said over 35 shops were gutted in a devastating blaze that engulfed a major portion of the shopping complex in the Tral town.

They said three unidentified bodies have been recovered from the site by the police.

In other incidents, six militants were killed in separate encounters across the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
