Bomb found near VHP office in Nagpur

A time bomb was found near the Vishwa Hindu Parishad office in Nagpur's old city area on Monday, police said.

Commissioner of Police P K B Chakraborty said an 18-inch improvised explosive device containing about 750 gm of gelatin connected to a time mechanism and electronic detonator was found in a steel pipe in the office.

He said the owner of the building, Vasant Ghate, who had rented out the place to the VHP, informed the police about the bomb. A bomb disposal squad later defused the IED in an open ground in Reshimbagh.

No arrests have been made so far, Chakraborty said.

A VHP spokesman said the office was used for occasional meetings.
