BJP-led group to stake claim
to form new government

Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party leader R K Dorendra Singh on Monday said a BJP-led front headed by him would stake claim to form the new government in Manipur on Tuesday.

Singh, soon after meeting Governor Ved Prakash Marwah, told PTI that he apprised the governor of the latest political developments following the defeat of the Samata Party-led Radhabinod Koijam government on the floor of the House.

Representatives of five parties -- the BJP, the Manipur State Congress Party (Chaoba), the Nationalist Congress Party, the Federal Party of Manipur and the Janata Dal (Loken), which voted against the trust vote, would meet on Tuesday and form a new front, he said.

The new front, he said, would have a strength of forty.
