External Affairs Ministry website hacked

An External Affairs Ministry website has been hacked by pro-Pakistan elements who posted anti-India messages on the site.

"The website has been closed. It is being restructured," a foreign office spokesman said Monday.

"We will put strong security firewalls around it," he added.

One of the messages held out a threat that major Indian government sites would be hacked in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Bangalore-based software giant Infosys' banking website has been hacked, company sources said Monday.

"The banking website of Infosys has been hacked. We are trying to trace the source," the sources told PTI.

The sources said they had no idea about the hackers and added, "We are working on it."

"We are trying to fix the problem and correct it," the sources said.
