Views:I think the most imp.
aspect in this whole issue is that if anyone can contact people at the
helm of affairs and strike a deal for products that are non-existant. Imagine
a scenario wherein a group of people from hostile countries coming to our
top brass and selling stuff that doesn't work and we go to war with those
machinery. God! thats scary! I think corruption is rampant but it has to
controlled and people doing it are the best who know how to do it.

Views:The Tehelka exposure
made us to realise why Kashmir issue, and India-Pak "enemity", is continuing
for the past 50 years. Only if there is an issue, there can be enemity
with neighbours; a permanent enemy neighbour helps to increase defence
budget; hike in defence budget provides vistas for hefty commissions in
arms deals. However, Tehelka guys must be careful. As Bangaru had already
said, you are not only anti-Dalit, but also anti-Christian (by George),
anti-women (by Jaya) as well as anti-linguistic minorities (by the combined
Kannadika George, Malayalee Jaya and Telugu Bangaru). This is similar to
us, the human rights "wallahs", who stand for good neighbourly relations
and oppose war, and constantly face charges of being anti-nationals.

Views:Personally, it is
not surprising for me to hear that Govt. led by Vajpayee involved in Defence
scandals. After all, he was a friend of Chandraswami, attended the party
hosted in honour of Anton Kasogi by Chandarswami when he was a opposition
leader.Actually, the first people to blame is media.Because media tirelessly
cultivated and promoted Vajpayee as a honest man eventhough his political
career is not exemplary except sitting in the parliament all along from
the independence. He is a person who colluded with the British willingly
during independence struggle.Media never permitts Vajpayee to be scrtunized
publicly and convincingly. In contrast we have seen the merciless character
assassination of V.P.Singh.It is a irony that same media covers the 'holy
saintly' face of Vajpayee and likes.Still he proves who he is by not directing
George Fernandes to quit the cabinet.

Views:"Highly Questionable
Motives", is what comes to my mind. Its one thing, to EXPOSE an EXISTING
SITUATION, but another go out and CREATE a situation, that too, all for
a story. IF it wasnt all for a story, than what else ??? Is tehelka in
the game for the money too? Seems like a classic opp. for a "Reverse Blackmail"
to me. While I rejoice the fact that finally, some "PROOF" has been made
available ( which remains the stumbling block in most of such investigations),
I also regret the high QUESTIONABLE manner in which this "PROOF" was "CREATED"
and "PLANTED"...

in the scandal should be punished by sending strong signals to others.
As Defence Minister is not involved in this, he should not resign, but
his presence is there, then he has to. Also we should not held responsible
for entire government for the work done by individuals.

Views:yes, the government
is sincere. no, reforms will bring this problem down. the defense minister
should not step down. this is the first time probably in the history of
india, a defense minister has been supportive of the defense forces, brought
dignity back to the forces, and always tried to keep transparency at the
highest level; george fernandes should not step down. it will be a loss
to the country which the country can ill-afford. having said so, some greedy
people must have taken money by promising something; but, bjp president
taking rs 1 lakh as bribe for defense contract is belittling his position,
the party and the government and the people who paid it if they did so!
in other words, this cannot be true at all. even if one wants to take bribe,
i don't think someone will be stupid enough to take only 1 lakh rupees
for crores of rupees worth defence contracts. some other people are beind
this tehelka characters who brought shame to the country. kind regards

Pramod Mahajan what is the significance of this..I take the privilege of
presuming he is not that dumb. I remember seeing him in live coverage at
the time of his campaigning(One day with Pramod Mahajan) .... Has he become
so shameless... Sometime its better to keep mum if you still want to run
a dignigied political life rather than licking the dirt and justify.

Views:Kudos to you guys
for having exposed something which has been going on for ages with our
stupid system. God knows whom it is that we should blame, or if there will
actually be any reforms. The defence minister, indeed must step down and
allow whatever enquires have to be done to be carried out fairly. What
I also cannot understand is, why is the PMO silent? Why is Mr Vajpayee
silent? It makes them look guilty, they'd better come up with a rebuttal
soon! Hats off to you guys once again!

Views:Why should you expect
these "patriotic soldiers" in the military to be any different from the
civilian scumbags (politicians, middlemen etc.) that are usually involved
in these defence deals? Each group is as pathetic as the other. If these
people are really guilty as Tehelka says, I say hang all these civilians and army guys !! Why single
out the army guys for more severe punishment? After all the old days of
"dying for one's country" are long gone. By the way, when are we going
to get an expose on the Indian army's smuggling of arms into Kashmir for
militant's use against India? Maybe Rediff should do one soon, and steal
a march over the Tehelka guys. Any takers??

Views:Question is! how significant
and revealing these tapes are? Its like thief is the one who is caught
redhanded! Common people like me are forced to put their logic forward!
Why all these politicians try so hard to take ministries or any posting
of any importance. Why there is always a major tussle among beauraucratic
circles to get prime(?) postings!!! Probably most of them are real patriots
and they want to serve the people of India! Seems like a joke.. come on..
It is all money honey! Frankly I don't expect much out of this as the whole
system seems to be rotten! If it can be in defence matters than nothing
and nobody is clean and who will expose whom? Thank you Mr. Tejpal! good
work. Seems like when every body who has a chance making money and you
and me are left out... You should have taken some cue from the endavour
of Mr. Sukhram, Laloo Yadav, Rao, Jaylalita.. List is endless. Let 40%
population of this country fight for one square meal.. you don't bother
and make money .. enjoy life.. Had Mr Gandhi, rather than fighting for
independence, made some money, his grandchildren would have been enjoying
now! Poor Vision!!!!

Views:Suppose I pose as
a toilet paper supplier to the army. Catch some officers, offer them money
if they help me get the deal through. Then I keep being more egg headed
- catch a businessman give him money then a party president, and so on.
And all these I capture on camera while being a fictitous toilet paper
supplier. What have I proved : if I offer money to army officers, party
presidents etc., on a platter - more often than not it is received with
little question asked. What I have not proved but only have innuendoes
towards: a real arms deal can really work like this. why ? because I cannot
convincingly say that any of the guys I gave money to could have turned
the deal in my favor (at a huge loss to the nation) - there was no conclusion
to the story, no deal, no loss to the nation, no real toilet paper. The
paranoia over the entire nation's security at threat is overcooked emotion.
What we can do is hang the guys who were induced into taking the money
- maybe their first folly, but nevertheless, make it their last. From tehelka
point of view spending 11 lacs to prove a point that does not need any
proving might look an exercise in stupidity. But then again look at what
they are raking in as publicity. I still feel that publicity is not money
and tehelka's venture capitalists are poorer by 11 lacs- which they will
learn when the hoopla dies down. But then perhaps they can have the satisfaction
of getting some high ranking army officers court martialled and a party
president sacked.

that can effect BJP only, but it's a matter related to each and every Indian.
How those politicians even think of compromising with our security. It's
the nature of these half-educated politicians to throw alligations even
after being caught red handed. Sir, I don't think they have that morality
to accepet responsibility and step down. May be days are numbered when
we the very common people will kick them out of their chambers. I hope,
this time some serious investigation will be done and those guilty will
be punished within a very short time.

Views:No, no one should
take moral responsibility for others, instead the ones who are directly
implicated in the deal should be punished. We have seen lot of good people
take moral responsibility for the wrong people. He should just dissociate
from the wrong people and set out an agenda to clense the system with good
people. The first thing GF should do is open up the accounts of defence
budget. An informed democracy does not allow these things to happen.

Views:Seeing the tehelka
team's investigation for what it is, one arrives to the conclusion that
political leaders are not above greed. The team has sought to prove this
and it has done so commendably. However, as the transcripts show, no one
really guaranteed an uncompetitive deal; that would have been truly selling
the country to line my pocket. Power-brokers and middlemen are India's
bane. We are a nation of traders, not the genuine types who help reduce
transaction costs, but types who increase the transaction costs and live
off it. I think the tehelka report will bring one good to the offices:
the defense wheeling-dealing may just get more transparent because of this.
And that's a social good. Or it may turn out to be a damp squib and the
political leaders may not have the drive and courage to use this window
to change the avenue, in which case it will be a million rupees and a week's
TV and newsprint down the drain :-| .
