Six militants killed in Kashmir

Six militants belonging to the Jamiat-ul-mujaheedin were killed by security forces late on Tuesday evening at Baktoor Gurez in northern Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir when they were trying to infiltrate the Line of Control, police sources said.

Four soldiers were also killed in the encounter.

Meanwhile, a Village Defence Committee member and a Special Police Officer were killed in a grenade explosion at village Tundoh, one km from Doda town in Jammu region.

Police sources said militants hurled a grenade inside a house at Tundoh, which exploded resulting in the death of the VDC member Om Prakash and SPO Ram Singh.

The militants managed to escape after the explosion, the sources added.

A report from Devsar in Kulgam also said that militants fired at the camp of a pro-India militant, resulting in on the death of a top counter-insurgent Faizan Ahmad.
