Osama henchmen wanted to bomb US Embassy

The three arrested associates of international terrorist Osama bin Laden were planning to bomb the US Embassy in Delhi between June and July, Delhi Police Commissioner Ajai Raj Sharma said.

He said the Sudanese national Abdel Raouff Hawash and his Indian associates Shameem Sarwar and Abass failed to carry out the plan as they could not recruit anybody to drive an explosive-laden car up to the embassy.

Delhi police had received information regarding the plan two months ago.

Sharma said further investigations were on and warned one or two of their associates may still be around.

Hawash and Sarvar were arrested on June 15 and 6 kgs of RDX and some pre-fabricated improvised explosive devices were seized from them.

Their third accomplice Abass was nabbed in Udaipur in Rajasthan.
