The Delhi police claims to have solved the North Block, Sena Bhawan and a host of other bomb blast cases in one masterstroke with the arrest of four Hizbul Mujahideen militants on Monday evening near the New Delhi railway station.
"The militants have admitted to having been involved in the North Block, Sena Bhawan and Dalhousie road bomb blast cases," Commissioner of the Delhi Police Ajai Raj Sharma said
He said the police had information that Ghulam Mohiuddin, a Kashmiri who worked as a transporter in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, was involved in militancy.
After keeping Mohiuddin under surveillance, it was found that in the past fortnight, he and an associate had reconnoitered various areas in New Delhi, including India Gate, Sena Bhawan, North Block, South Block and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Around 9 pm on Wednesday, the surveillance team found Mohiuddin and his associate leaving the house. They were carrying a bag.
At around 9.45 pm they reached the New Delhi Railway Station where two persons approached them for the bag. The four were arrested on the spot.
The other three were identified as Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mumtaz Ahmad and Firoz Rafi.
The search of the bag revealed two kilograms of RDX, 2 remote controlled radio activated devices and a wireless.
Gulzar is said to have admitted that he is a Hizbul Mujahideen militant acting on the instructions of Commander Fayaz from Srinagar.
