Ram temple model unveiled by VHP

President of Ramjanambhoomi Nyas Samiti Paramhans Ramchandra Das Monday unveiled the model of the proposed Sri Ram temple at Ayodhya at a function in the Kumbh mela camp of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Kumbh Nagar.

The 21 feet long, 11 feet wide and nine feet high model made of thermocol has been kept on a wooden platform. It was brought in the mela area from Jaipur on January 3.

Vijay, the maker of the model, told UNI it took him 16 months to complete it. An electronics engineer from Jaipur, Anil, has done its lighting using 51,000 small bulbs.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the model. One has to pass through a metal detector to reach it.

A VHP spokesman said that after the Kumbh mela, the model would be taken to Ayodhya and put up for display at Karsevak Puram.

Speaking on the occasion Das said the construction of the temple would be started anytime after March 31. Senior VHP leaders were also present on the occasion.
