President accepts PMK ministers' resignations

The resignations of Minister of State for Coal N T Shanmugam and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas E Ponnuswamy, both members of Pattali Makkal Katchi, have been accepted by the President.

The two ministers had submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on February 5, soon after the PMK decided to pull out of the ruling National Democratic Alliance.

The PMK on Tuesday forged an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for the forthcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

PMK chief Dr Ramadoss met AIADMK chief Jayalalitha in Chennai on Tuesday. He later told reporters that his party would have no problem in being part of a front which would have the Congress and the Tamil Maanila Congress as other partners.
