Even as controversy rages over the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance, Congress-ruled Rajasthan is considering a proposal to enact a new legislation to effectively fight organised crime, official sources said on Tuesday.
A draft for the proposed Control of Organised Crime Act has already been prepared by the police department for the consideration of the state government, an official spokesman said.
While Maharashtra, where Congress heads a coalition government, already has a law against organised crime, a similar legislation in Karnataka, also under Congress rule, is awaiting approval.
Left Front government of West Bengal has also been pursuing legislation for such crimes.
