Condolence Message:We may not get such kind of soft and pleasent personality as a NASSCOM chief do develop IT in India. He led the responsibility very effectivly and within a few years he made IT as the main source of foreign exchange to India. He showed to the World that India is path for much talented brained software professionals available. I really surprised when I heard that he passed away. Condolence Message:For this moment time has stopped for me, when I heard the news that he was no more. At first I didnt reconized his name, but when I found it was him. I was just shocked, just quitely understanding time. How it changed its pace. Though I have never met him in my life but alway had a wish to do so, I knew him only by tv interviews or news papers. I always liked his attitude of talking, he was such a nice person. For this time my wish have just stoped for time has snatched away him from all of us. I pray to allmighty for the peace of his immortal soul, and he will always remain within us always.

Dewang Mehta -- the ultimate visionary and a dynamic leader who has left behind a void that may never be filled. I had the personal pleasure of interacting with on many occasions until recently during Nasscom 2001 and found him to be a genuine stalwart and a thorough gentleman. Condolence Message:It might look selfish but Dewang you left us when we needed you most. None can replace you. The man who gave this motto to every IT savvy Indian "roti, kapda makan aur bandwith", is no more with us. The sad demise our Devang has given double shock to every Indian. The degree of popularity and respect Devang commanded is really a dream for today's film stars and politicians. I can recall when I met him on the inaugural day of IT COMDEX 2000 and requested him to write and article for M@G.NET and I got firm assurance in very soft voice. My request to all fellow Indians! lets request Indian Govt. not to let his mission stop and to give recognition to his work by awarding "Bharat Ratna" Posthumously to the true son of this soil.

He was no technocrat or businessman. But his sincerity and strong commitment for the cause of Indian IT industry made him one of the most popular figures of independent India. He was not a CEO or a politician or a busnessman. Yet he could become the posterboy of Indian IT industry. Hailing from the state of Gujrat,Dewang's Infotech Satyagraha was a befitting sequel to that of Mahatma Gandhi, who also beloned to the same state. In this grim scenario, when the tech economy is melting down,and Indian IT industry is losing out, Dewang's absence will have a greater impact. The Murties, Premzees, and the Nadars won't be able to find a repalcement to showcase their IT prowess to the world. NASSCOM won't be the same without him. Infotecknowledge flow will not be the same,as we have lost one of the most prolific communicators of our times. "Roti, Kapda, Bijlee, aur Bandwidth,"-the clarion call echoed by Dewang during IIW 2001 will be remembered as a slogan for New India. Let's pray to almighty to rest his soul in peace.
