AIADMK supporters burn bus

A Tamil Nadu state transport corporation bus was set ablaze by suspected All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam workers in Amaravathi village near Kumbakonam late Monday night, police said.

AIADMK Valangaiman block secretrary A Gurumoorthy and four other party workers have been arrested in this connection, police said.

The miscreants asked the 10 passengers to get down before setting the bus afire. The bus was totally gutted before fire service personnel from Valangaiman arrived at the spot, police said.

The bus was coming here from Manargudi.

Over a hundred AIADMK members including party's former MLAs Ramanathan, K Thangamuthu, Vijayabalan were arrested when they attempted to stage road blocks at Kumbakonam Monday night in protest against the conviction of party chief J Jayalalitha in the Tansi land deal case.
