Grenade attack on DD complex in Srinagar

E-Mail this report to a friend

A series of grenade explosions rocked the heavily-guarded Doordarshan complex in Srinagar and the nearby All India Radio and ruling National Conference headquarters this afternoon.

Official sources said militants fired about three rifle grenades towards the high security Doordarshan complex, which had also been targeted earlier, from an unknown place this afternoon.

They said no one was injured in the attack.

The sources said one of the grenades fell on the urinal adjacent to the Doordarshan news room while another fell on a barrack, damaging it. A third grenade hit a chinar tree in the complex.

Today's was the fifth attack on the Doordarshan complex during the last ten years of militancy.

An engineer had been killed in an earlier attack.
