Militants storm army camp, two killedMukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar Even as the authorities sounded a general alert on the eve of Republic Day in Srinagar, two militants stormed yet another heavily guarded army camp at Tattoo ground late yesterday. A defence spokesman here said that two soldiers were killed, while six others were wounded in the attack. The two militants were also killed after the building in which they had taken refuge was blasted. The spokesman said militants fired four rifle grenades and two rockets before storming the Tattoo ground camp near Bemina. The attack follows threats by militants groups in Srinagar that they have constituted fidayeen groups (death squads) to storm army camps and venues of Republic Day functions. The state administration has sounded a general alert and troops and specially trained commandos have taken positions in and around Srinagar. Srinagar's Bakshi stadium, where the main Republic Day function will be held tomorrow, has been sealed. All roads leading to the stadium too have been sealed.
