12 injured in blast at Old Delhi railway stationBy A Correspondent in New Delhi Twenty people were injured when a crude bomb exploded in the Shamli-Saharanpur passenger train when it was about to depart the Old Delhi railway station. Police said the blast occurred at 1605 hrs IST when the train had just pulled into the platform, its scheduled time of departure being 1700 hrs. Since there was ample time for the train to pull out, there were not many passengers inside the compartment at the time of the explosion, the police said. In fact, all the persons who were injured in the blast were standing on the platform, and were hurt by flying shards of glass from the window panes. Out of the 20 injured, four are still in hospital while the others have been treated for minor injuries and discharged. Forensic experts have already rushed to the site to collect samples, and police said the results will be known tomorrow. The police also refused to comment if this blast was part of the pre-Republic Day incidents that the administration has been gearing itself up for.
