E-Mail this report to a friend 22 policemen, including a senior officer, were killed in a naxalite (left-wing extremists) triggered powerful landmine blast at Khojvai, ten km from Narayanpur, in the tribal Bastar district of Madhya Pradesh.

The MP police said that additional superintendent of police Deewan Bhaskar and some head constables were among the dead.

The blast occurred at around 1100 hrs when a police party, acting on a tip off about the movement of naxalites in the area was rushing to the spot in a matador when their vehicle was blown to pieces.

The Bastar district collector and the superintendent of police have rushed to the spot.
