Subject: The women of Kargil Date: Wed, 10 Nov 1999 09:59:37 -0500 From: "Anand Mahale" To: Hi, This is a very nice article. This article helped me to identify myself with the hardships, my counterparts have to undergo. I felt ashamed of myself while reading this news over a breakfast of buttered bagel and steaming hot coffee. But then I thought I was never exposed to these things before. Sitting in my living room, or in front of my compute,r or during a commute I just discussed the war. Never did it occur to me, as to what must be happening to the people who actually live there. This article has literally shaken me up. I think like me it is time for everybody to wake up from their indifference. Well all of us cannot take up arms in our hands, but atleast we can salute and identify with our brothers and sisters over there. Why only they have to go through such hardships, it should be distributed evenly. You have got a very effective medium through which you can wake us up from our deep slumber. Please continue the good work. Thank you. Anand. More importantly this is that part of the story which is rarely heard and seen. The women#s bravery and the Indian people 's part of the story is never heard. I think BJP government should win the hearts and souls of Muslims in India by giving them their proper and just share in the country. I think talent people like yourself raise this issue to the government by requesting them to give/reserve Muslims at least their 15 % shares across the board in all offices, schools and cabinets not 0.2% as we are doing since 52 years. This will help us to win more and more Muslims hearts and souls. Please continue the good job. Subject: The Women of Kargil Date: Tue, 9 Nov 1999 19:24:58 -0500 From: "Devadas Chirakal" To: Yet their courage and strength are an inspiration to anyone who wonders what we are fighting for in Kargil. When you see little Arifa Iqbal stick out her chin and answer a question in class with her bright-eyed, cheeky confidence, you realize the meaning of patriotism. She is India. And she is well worth fighting for. Thank you, --Arijit Subject: feedback "the women of kargil" Date: Tue, 09 Nov 1999 14:54:07 -0700 From: shaikh kadar To: news@rediff.co.in Indian govt. has the 50 yrs old propoganda to inject hatred against pakistan and Muslims into each and every Indian kids and thats what u heard from Arifa a 9 yrs old kid. She is just a kid and she don't know whats exactly the Indian govt. is trying to do. The day she knows about it her reaction will exactly be reverse. She may not be knowing about how Indians had captured Kashmir and then how diplomatically they persuaded lobby leaders and took over kashmir, how indians treat muslims in India, why only 1% muslims (including Ladhak) are in army, navy, air force, why ladhakhi muslims were refused to join army etc etc ..... I hope she will get to know about all these things soon. -Shaikh Subject: very well written Date: Tue, 9 Nov 1999 18:05:53 EST From: KASH60@aol.com To: news@rediff.co.in Really liked your article on the Kargil women. Now since this is a democratic newspaper and listens to and writes about everything, why don't you write about the shells from Indian sides falling on innocent people in Azad Kashmir, forget that why don't you write about the killings that go in Indian held Kashmir. If this is a newspaper that believes in freedom of expression, then I urge you to show both sides. Please don't be biased. Be fair to people on both sides, be fair to the people suffering in Indian held Kashmir. This stupid war of over 50 yrs has caused nothing but hatred and will cause more. It started from the first Indo-Paki generation and will last till the 100th generation. Be fair to both sides.
