E-Mail this report to a friend

India and Pakistan will exchange 63 prisoners at the Wagah border today, Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain announced on Sunday.

Hussain said the 15 Indian and 48 Pakistani civilian prisoners were being released in the spirit of rapprochement agreed by the prime ministers of the two countries in their historic meeting in Lahore last month.

Hussain said the two countries also propose to release fishermen who were caught straying into each other's territorial waters.

During the next four weeks, Pakistan would release 109 Indian fishermen and their 17 boats and India 26 Pakistani fishermen and three boats.
