E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress made it clear today that it wanted all those guilty in the 1984 Delhi riots following the assassination of Indira Gandhi should be punished. The party said it would welcome the move to appoint another commission for probing the riots.

The initiative should come from the government and the party's stand was that any step to punish the guilty was welcome, Congress spokesperson Ajit Jogi said. Our priority is that the guilty should be punished, he said referring to Home Minister L K Advani's statement that the government might appoint another commission for a fresh probe into the riots.
