ULFA claims responsibility for blasting oil pipeline

E-Mail this report to a friend

The banned United Liberation Front of Asom has claimed responsibility for blowing up an oil pipeline at Kopali and a bridge at Tangli in Assam last week.

In a faxed statement last night, ULFA central committee publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary also claimed having ambushed and killed seven Central Industrial Security Force personnel and looted seven rifles with 520 rounds in Sibsagar district recently.

The Assam government has however refuted newspaper reports that the ULFA was behind the explosion of the eight-inch diameter pipeline transporting high-speed diesel from Digboi refinery to the Tinsukia Indian Oil Corporation terminal at Gutibari near Lakhipathar in Dibrugarh on November 26.
