Newly elected Congress members of the Rajasthan assembly will meet in Jaipur on Monday to elect a leader for the 150 member legislature party.

Informed sources said senior Congress leader and the man in charge of the state assembly election campaign, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress general secretary Madhavrao Scindia, among others, are expected to attend the meeting.

Among the prominent Congress winners are former Union minister Nawal Kishore Sharma, the leader of the Opposition in the outgoing assembly, Parasram Maderna, and former chief minister Shiv Charan Mathur. The dark horse is Ashok Gehlot, the state Congress president who led the party to victories in the general election and the assembly poll this year.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Raghuveer Singh Kaushal said today that outgoing Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat would continue to be the leader of the newly elected BJP legislature party.

Kaushal told the media that the party's newly elected legislators were likely to meet in the next three days to formally elect Shekhawat as the leader.
