Subject: Delhi high court tells CBI to explain NBW, red alert against Quattrocchi

The CBI was brought under the control of the PMO by Indira Gandhi. The motive was to use the CBI for political gains -- and that defanged the CBI.

Bringing the CBI under the home ministry - to which it previously belonged was a logical conclusion. Unnecessary to say that after the late Sardar Patel, only L K Advani has brought some aura to the office of the home ministry.

Subject: Khan quits as Naidu bails BJP

This is hypocrisy. If such people continue to rule us, the future is certainly clear. On one hand you talk about secularism and then say Muslims are a different community.

Do these politicians feel that the entire community will toe their corrupted line. As all Hindus don't vote for the BJP, similarly all Muslims don't vote against the BJP. Or as a matter of fact, not all Muslims voted for Mr Khan. How pathetic it seems when he comes up with such a lame excuse for his resignation.

Subject: Pressure mounts on Sonia to 'expose BJP's bluff' on Bofors

For the first time in several years, we have a government totally independent of the Congress party's influence. The very fact that Mrs Sonia Gandhi entered the fray at the last moment indicated a bid to snuff out any chance of the BJP unravelling the mystery of where the Bofors money was funnelled.

People who say the BJP is 'raking up' this issue for political survival, are either missing the whole point or don't want certain truths to become public. The fact that a government is able to take up such a sensitive issue immediately after winning a confidence motion by a mere 13 votes, shows what a real chance we have to get this whole issue over and done with.

I think the sole virtue of this 'unholy coalition' led by the BJP is its total independence of the Congress party's machinations. Every concerned person should breathe a sigh of relief that after a long time the Indian government has shaken off the last vestiges of Congressism.

If the BJP is able to wrap up the Bofors issue in double quick time (before it is brought down again!!) and desist from creating any 'new' scams/scandals, one MAJOR purpose of this government would be achieved.

Subject: Bunch of jokers in the selection committee

Is there a way cricket fans can write their opinion to the bunch of jokers in the selection committee? I liked the article by Prem Panicker. Hope the Bozzos are reading all these too. They should be made accountable for their deeds.

I completely agree with your views and advocate that we (the Internet community) should start a campaign to save the game of cricket from the hands of the selectors.

Indians everywhere have the moral obligation to protect the only game in which we are better than the racial whites.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Subject: Suspension of Ganguly

Where is the question of Indians being ruled by a different yardstick? A question is only when there is a doubt. This is as clear as distilled water, that Indians have always been ruled with "a different mile stick. "My view is that, we have to show our full dissent and make these so called "white officials " more worthy of their posts.

Mr Panicker, I agree with you and really wonder why has the BCCI not taken any action over this matter till now. I think Rediff should have a pool on this matter and send the response to the BCCI who in my opinion is acting in a manner which is totally annoying.

Subject: We don't want to go to Dubai, we don't want money ...

I was wondering what the interviewer did after seeing the condition of the Bangladeshis. She just wrote this article, or did she try to do something for them ? I don't understand what's the use of interviewing and printing the same if nothing gets done for the suffering people!

If you are not doing anything like that then please stop printing such articles.

Do people back home in India hear about this? I think India should offer the adults asylum, and send the children back to Bangladesh. Surely we can do that much for desperate starving people. If not Dubai, India can offer some modest opportunities for them. Why not?

Subject: Godse Interview

I have just read the Gopal Godse interview and it is so intriguing.

My name is Ranjan Das-Gupta, an Indian raised and educated in London, England. Formerly a television journalist for Zee TV UK, I am now setting up a business to make documentaries for world networks. Two of my documentaries based on Dominique Lapierre and a Bengali festival -- Durga Puja -- have been sold to networks in the Pacific and are currently being reviewed by other stations.

I have recently began researching a documentary on Gopal Godse and spoke with him over the phone. I am looking for a producer who is willing to help out, and contribute financially towards the making of a documentary on Godse -- Fifty years since Gandhi's death and the BJP coming to power (they're all linked).

Please get back to me if you're interested because then I can send you information about myself etc.

Once again, excellent interview.

Subject: Farooq with UF, but keeps options open

The Abdullah family have a history of changing colours like a chameleon. He can jump back and forth without caring for the principles and sentiments of the Kashmiris, and his own party men because he thinks the NC is his personal fiefdom.

Moreover, he is a CM because of the Government of India without any support among the Kashmiris. He has been catapulted to the seat of chief ministership just to serve as a puppet figurehead. He knows well what it means to oppose the federal government. He knows it well that Kashmir was ruled by the Congress party for forty years without any support among the locals and so can the BJP.

Who cares?? At least Kashmiris don't care who is selected and installed as their CM. Who so ever he may be, he has to carry out the policy of the Government of India. So Farooq can be expected to stoop down to any level to secure his seat.

Subject: Interview with Mr Larsen

Larsen landed in India first. "The company sent him either in 1933 or 1934 to set up a cement factory in Coimbatore. I came in 1935," he said. Coincidentally, the cement factories set up by Holck-Larsen and Toubro would go on to become part of Associated Cement Companies, India's leading cement conglomeration. Then came the government order for three more cement factories, which kept the duo back in India."

The interview is with Mr Larsen and not Mr Toubro, so may be it is a typo that the writer wrote "Larsen landed first" instead of "Toubro landed first."

Anyway, the interview was pretty good. I couldn't help writing this, as I'm an ex-LNite and have met Mr Larsen too.
