Trinath Mishra to head CBI 'on ad-hoc basis'Trinath Mishra, special director in the Central Bureau of Investigation, will take over as head of the country's premier investigating agency on April 1, when its current director D R Karthikeyan retires. According to highly-placed sources, Mishra will be appointed director in charge as the Supreme Court had recently directed that the CBI director can only be selected by a three-member board under the supervision of the Central Vigilance Commission board. Since the new government has yet to appoint the CVC board, Mishra's appointment will be on an ad-hoc basis. Mishra is a 1965 batch police officer from the UP cadre, and has served important organisations, including the Special Protection Group, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the National Police Academy. According to sources, Shyamol Dutta, special director in the Intelligence Bureau, will take over from Arun Bhagat whose term also expires on March 31. UNI
