Heatwave scorches Andhra PradeshMany parts of Andhra Pradesh are reeling under a hot spell with the day temperatures remaining above normal, particularly in Telangana and Rayalaseema regions of the state for the last few days. The weather office in Hyderabad said Cuddapah recorded the highest day temperature of 43 degree Celsius. The dry spell was likely to continue in most parts of the state. Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Kutch and south interior Karnataka. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Kashmir, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and in some parts of Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal Tamil Nadu and in the remaining parts of Rayalaseema, some parts of West Bengal and Sikkim, Saurashtra, Vidarbha, interior Tamil Nadu and in the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. They were appreciably below normal in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, gangetic West Bengal, Haryana and the Bihar plateau. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Kerala, Lakshadweep and one or two places in Telangana. Dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country. Rain or snow is likely to occur at one or two places in the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and at one or two places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
