Nah, we're not taking about Amitabh Bachchan's favourite onscreen characters.

So you thought only Kriti and Kriti were confusing?

Wait until you meet Vijay, Vijay, Vijay and Vijay of the South Indian film industry!

They may share the first name, but their personalities are very different.

Namrata Thakker helps you know just who is who.

 

Vijay

While fans across the world know him as Vijay or Thalapathy Vijay, the actor's full name is Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar.

At the age of 10, he starred in his first Tamil film, Vetri and continued working as an child actor until he featured as the lead hero in 1992 movie Naalaiya Theerpu.

The Tamil superstar comes from a film background as his father, S A Chandrasekhar, is a renowned Kollywood director and producer whereas his mother Shobha is a playback singer and Carnatic vocalist.

Vijay was actually pursuing a degree in visual communications at Loyola college, Chennai, but he dropped out to take up acting.

Today, the 46-year-old superstar is among the most popular celebrities in India. His most recent release Master is a blockbuster despite the pandemic.

 

Vijay Sethupathi

Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi Kalimuthu is an actor, producer, lyricist and a dialogue writer, who is professionally known as Vijay Sethupathi.

He has made his mark not just in Tamil Telugu and Malayalam cinema.

Before making it big, Sethupathi worked as a salesman, cashier, phone booth operator, then eventually moved to Dubai to work as an accountant.

He returned to India in 2003, and tried his hand at acting.

Initially, he worked as a background actor and did many short films and couple of television series.

Sethupathi became a star after landing his first lead role in 2010 movie, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru.

The movie ended up winning the National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Sethupathi played the antagonist in Master, and is looking to start a career in Bollywood.

 

Vijay Deverakonda

The heartthrob of Telugu cinema, Vijay Deverakonda is known for his acting skills as well as his good looks.

While Vijay made his acting debut in 2011 with the Telugu rom-com Nuvvila, it was his 2017 film Arjun Reddy that made him a star overnight.

He has caught Karan Johar's eye, and will now make his next film under KJo's watchful eyes.

Liger will be a Hindi-Telugu bilingual, and will co-star Ananya Panday.

 

Vijay Babu

Founder of Friday Film House, Vijay Babu is a well-known Malayalam actor and producer.

Before entering the world of acting, Vijay Babu worked in the media industry and later went to Dubai to fulfill his entrepreneurial dreams.

After serving as vice president of Surya TV, Vijay Babu left his media career in 2013 and decided to pursue acting full-time.

In 2014, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Children's Film as a producer for Philips & The Monkey Pen.

In 2020, his production venture Sufiyum Sujatayum became the first Malayalam film to have direct release on an OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video.
